Actors, writers, stage craft staff sought for two plays produced by Leisure Services
The City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs is seeking middle and high school students interested in performing in touring theater productions of "Because the Surgeon General Said So!," an educational program presented thanks to a grant from the Chatham/Effingham Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition.
The program will tour to local schools and perform several Saturday matinees during this current school year. Each interactive performance presents an important message to kids from their peers about the dangers of tobacco products.
The audition date for the touring group is Nov. 17, 6 p.m., at the SPACE, 9 W. Henry St. (between Bull and Whitaker Streets.) For additional information, call (912) 651- 6782.
Auditions for Leisure Services Youth Theatre's Black Box Production of "Dear Mr. Clemens," will also be held Nov. 17, 6 p.m., at SPACE. Young performers ages 12 -19 are being sought.
"Dear Mr. Clemens," is an imaginative look back at the friendship of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) and Helen Keller. This original play, by Leisure Services Theatre Specialist Christopher Soucy, will be interactive and accessible.
There are also opportunities for students interested in involvement with the process - from writing to producing to performing. For more information call (912) 651-6783.
